Of the five engine sizes offered, three were
noted by size designations above or included in the emblem on the front
fender, the 250 cid L6 Turbo-Thrift, the 327 cid V8 Turbo-Fire, and
the 396 cid V8 Turbo-Jet.
-
According to promotional photos, the base 230
cid L6 did not include a fender emblem.
-
The 283 cid V8 and the 327 cid V8 shared the
same 'crossed flags' but the 327 engine included the "327" numerals
centered above the flags.
-
All 396 cid V8 engines (325hp, 350hp, and 375hp)
received the same front fender emblem.

These photos are original, Canadian-built Chevelle 300 models. Note the
placement relatively high on the quarter panel. The '300' notation is in
the emblem itself. These are not the same car by the way.

Compare the 300 rear quarter panel emblem above with the 300 Deluxe emblems

The 300 Deluxe moved the '300' script to the top of the emblem. Also note
the mounting location in relation to the rear tail lamp housing.
