CHEVELLE OF THE MONTH

CHEVELLE OF THE MONTH

My father ordered this Chevelle in April 1964 after GM started offering the 327 engine option. He ordered the L30 engine mated to a Muncie M20. My mom and dad piled up the miles on it and eventually had to buy a new car. But my dad kept the car and planned to rebuild it. Sadly, that was not to be. He died from prostate cancer in 1980. A few weeks before he died, he gave me the car.

I had good intentions of fixing it up, but lugged the car around for over 30 years before beginning its restoration.
In the fall of 2015 I met Steve Woodbury (master bodyman & painter) and in February 2016 we finally began the restoration. Steve & I worked together. Steve did the body work: rust repair; fabrication; painting. I worked on the mechanical stuff: frame; suspension; engine; etc. There were a few "bumps" along the way, but overall the process was very rewarding. Most all parts including engine and transmission are original. Not original are the 4-wheel disc brakes, power steering and 2" dropped spindles. I also gave it a nice set of 17" American Racing Wheels. I think my Dad would be very pleased on how it turned out.
