1967 SS396 Sport Coupe L78 - Offered at $89,000 (USD)
This is a real, highly documented L78 car with 49,000 original miles
and comes with complete owner history. Car was also certified to be original
by the dealership in Fort Kent, Maine where is was sold new. In addition
to the dealership info, the salesman who sold the car originally has been
found and contacted. Car was purchased and documented with the help of Jeff
Helms, one of our nation's leading experts regarding 1965 to 1967 Chevelles.
Car is listed in the
National Chevelle
L78 Registry.
A no expense-spared documented frame-off restoration was done in 2010. During
the restoration nearly all of the original parts were restored and reused.
Most of the items that had to be replaced were done with NOS parts. As a
result, the car is incredibly correct and was shown for the first time at
the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Chicago (MCACN) where is scored
a 996 out of a possible 1000 points.
Along with the car being a true optioned L78, it has to be one of the best
correctly restored 1967 Super Sports in the country. At the end of the 1966
production year, the L78 option was cancelled for the 1967 model year. However,
during March/April 1967 the option was reintroduced and made available.
This car finished production at the Framingham plant on April 28, 1967.
Based on this information the car is currently the earliest known L78 in
existence.
A savvy car collector will be hard pressed to find a more perfect 1967 Chevelle
anywhere, let alone a true Sport Coupe SS396, with the near impossible to
find L78 motor option.
