The 1957 Chevrolet El Morocco is a customized 1957 Chevrolet created by Canadian businessman Reuben Allender based on the 1957 Chevrolet. The second year of the car was based on the 1957 Chevrolet 210 sport coupe(2), sport sedan(2), and Bel Air convertibles. The El Morocco name was selected so as not to get in a confrontation with Chevrolet over using his original choice of Eldorado. Mr. Allender managed to get the brand legally registered, so all El Moroccos were registered as such, and not as Chevrolets. Numerous mods were done on the body but the Chevrolet chassis and running gear was essentially unchanged. The standard engine was the 283cid V8 with a 4-bbl carburetor and Powerglide automatic transmission. Cadillac Eldorado styled side trim, larger fins and modified tail were the biggest changes. Other than the grille, removal of the hood decoration, and emblems, very little was done to the front.
