Memory Package (AAB)
Periphery devices memory package. This option remembers outside-rear-view-mirror, radio, heater-vent air conditioning control, and power driver seat settings.
Floor Mats (B34)
Color matching, carpeted, driver’s and passenger’s floor mats.
Body Side Moldings (B84)
Plastic adhesive moldings that ran from the body side coves to the end of the door. These moldings had two pieces per side (one mounting ahead of the door to the front fender, the other mounting directly to the driver and passenger doors respectively), and their thickness tapered from front to rear.
Removable Roof Panel, Blue Tint (CC3)
Single piece, transparent, removable glass roof top with blue tint. CC3 was only available for the Coupe.
Dual Removable Roof Panels (C2L)
Single piece removable roof top panels – one painted, one tinted glass. The color on the painted panel exactly matched the body color of the car. The glass panel was tinted blue but remained otherwise transparent, providing the driver with an open feel in the cockpit, even when the panel was in place. CC3 was only available for the Coupe.
Electrochromatic Mirrors (DD0)
Outside mirrors LH and RH with electric remote control, heated, and light sensitivity. DD0 was only available for the Z06.
Selective Real Time Damping, electronic (F45)
Electronic ride control system which adjusted ride to existing conditions. Included a driver-adjustable ride control system. This option was not available on Corvettes that were ordered with the Performance Handling Package (RPO Z51). F45 was not available for the Z06 Hardtop.
Performance Axle (3.15 Ratio (Automatic)) (G92)
Optional performance axle ratio of 3.15:1 with automatic transmission. The standard automatic transmission featured an axle ratio of 2.75:1. The manual transmission model featured a 3.42:1 axle ratio.
Six-Speed Manual Transmission (MN6)
Six-speed manual transmission. The rear transaxle combined a Borg-Warner six-speed manual transmission (utilizing a Computer-Aided Gear Selection (CAGS)) with a limited-slip axle built by Getrag.
Magnesium Wheels (N73)
Optional magnesium wheel package replacing the standard polished aluminum wheels.
Polished Aluminum Wheels (QF5)
High-Polish 5-spoke Forged Aluminum Wheels.
Corvette Museum Delivery (R8C)
Delco Stereo Cassette (UL0)
Delco Stereo System with CD (UN0)
An upgrade from the standard Delco Stereo which featured a compact disc player.
Remote Compact 12-Disc Changer (U1S)
Remote 12-disc CD player/disc changer (installed in rear storage compartment. This option could be ordered either with the standard Delco Stereo with cassette, or the optional Delco Stereo with CD player (RPO UN0).
Front License Plate Frame (V49)
A “U” shaped plastic frame on the front bumper that a second license plate could slip into. This was an appearance item only, and was not required for mounting a front license plate to the C5 Corvette.
Performance Handling Package (Z51)
Upgraded suspension system for better performance and handling. This option included stiffer springs and stabilizer bars. It required the Performance Axle Ratio (RPO G92) with automatic transmission. It was not made available on vehicles equipped with Selective Real Time Dampening (RPO F45).
Millenium Yellow Paint (79U) Premium Tint Coat Color – Additional Charge
Magnetic Red Metallic Paint (86U)
This paint option required additional costs.
Notes
The 2000 FRC model was replaced with the 2001 Z06 Hardtop model. The LS1 engine increased in horsepower from 345 to 350.
New thin-walled cast iron exhaust manifold replaced the stainless steel exhaust manifold to improve durability.
The driveshaft is upgraded from a metal-matrix composite to aluminum alloy 6061, and it is increased in diameter from 55 to 63 mm. Driveshaft couplings have also been upgraded on manual-equipped models for additional strength and durability.
By optimizing the design of the automatic transmission case Corvette engineers were able to trim some material and reduce thickness in some areas to reduce mass by 3.3 pounds.
All Corvettes, when equipped with the six-speed manual transmission (optional on coupes and convertibles, standard on Z06) feature a revised clutch with greater clamping power to accommodate increased torque. This new clutch design also provides for lower pedal effort, making manual-equipped Corvettes more satisfying to drive.
Carbon blocker rings have been installed on all manual transmission
forward gears to provide for smoother shifts and additional robustness.
The M12 6-speed manual transmission is unique to the Z06. It is the
only transmission available for that model and is not available on the
coupe or convertible. It has more aggressive gearing to increase torque
multiplication in most forward gears, allowing for more rapid acceleration
and more usable torque at higher speeds.
To further maximize the breathing capabilities of the LS6, and reduce vehicle mass significantly a new titanium exhaust system was developed for the Z06. This marks the first-ever use of titanium in the exhaust system of a mass-production vehicle.
A Second-Generation Active Handling system, much enhanced over the original, becomes standard equipment on all Corvettes.
Interior sound isolation has been improved on all Corvettes with the addition of expandable foam and/or new seals in strategic areas.
A new convertible top provides better sealing, better sound isolation, and a smoother appearance.
A new Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery, sometimes referred to as a “starve” battery, – which is lighter and more durable than the current Corvette battery – becomes the standard battery on all Corvette models.
