1966 El Camino RPO Production Numbers/MSRP
Caveat: Option quantities/prices vary from resource to resource. These quantities (and prices in most cases) were taken from year-specific 'Accumulative Production/Final Model Year Reports' from Chevrolet and 'Options And Accessories When Installed By Chevrolet' price sheets and do not normally include quantities/prices from GM of Canada unless otherwise noted.
It is important to note the items listed and the quantity represent the item individually when ordered as an option and not when they may have come as standard equipment or in a convenience or appearance group on certain models. All costs listed are 1965/66 dollars. Dealers may have charged more (or less) for some options depending on the time of year as costs did fluctuate and some option costs varied depending on the series/model being installed on. Options shows were available on other Chevelles, not just El Caminos. The quantities shown represent all options sold; GM did not keep records on what options were sold with any specific series or body style.

The H.D. manual 3-speed transmission was STANDARD EQUIPMENT on all SS396 Chevelle models. The Optional RPO M13 was a mandatory option on the El Camino when either 396cid engine was offered. Of course, the 4-speed manual and Powerglide were also optional. |

It is not known whether the 54,166 figure listed for RPO K19
(A.I.R.) is truly a number of times the option was customer
ordered, or if it includes the number of times the option was
mandated due to California requirements and ordered by other
state's customers. If it's true that California built
(Fremont) Chevelles mandated the K19 option (which would
also mean the K24 option) then of the 59,074 Chevelles built
at Fremont, the 4,908 Chevelles are unaccounted for from Fremont
without these options. 59074 - Chevelles at Fremont 54166 - RPO K19 options reported ------- 4,908 - Remaining Fremont cars not equipped with RPO K19 RPO K24 (closed positive ventilation) is listed in GM literature as being required with RPO K19 is ordered. Yet, only 924 options are shown as being ordered. Since this option could be ordered without the RPO K19, it's believed this number is for all non-RPO K19 ordered Chevelles. |
