Chevelle - 1972
Fisher Body kept the old style number format. An odd 3rd digit is a 6-cylinder series while an even 3rd is a V8 series. While GM changed the vehicle identification number format eliminating the 2nd and 3rd digit and replacing it with a letter in the 2nd position and included the specific engine with a letter 5th position.
