Take a few steps back and capture the entire car.

If you have trouble identifying the data requested on your El Camino trim tag, go  here - select your El Camino's year then the plant.

The location for various trim tag data will vary from year to year. Here is a 1967 and an 1970 trim tag that should be a good guide as to where to find the body date, body number, trim code, and paint codes. If you are not sure of just what is on your trim tag, send a readable photo and I'll take it from there.

The Fisher Body Date can be found in any one of a number of places depending on the year but will consist of a 2-digit number form 01...12 and a single letter A..D

El Camino Registry
The Fisher Body Number follows the assembly plant designation and can be from 1 to 6 digits depending on the year and plant.

The pant code can be a 3-digit number, 3 letters, a pair of letter, or a mix of a number and a letter. The particular codes will depend on the year your El Camino/Sprint was built. For example:
1964 - All except Fremont will have a 3-digit number. Fremont will have 2 or 3 letters for the upper body paint, lower body paint, and in some cases a 3rd letter depicitng the wheel color.
1965-1968 - All will have at single letter lower paint code and a single letter upper paint code unless it was built with a vinyl top; in that case a number will replace the second letter.
1969-1972 - All will have two 2-digit nubmers for the lower and upper body color unless the car was built with a vinyl top; in that case the second 2-digit number is replaced by a letter.
