Introduction - Page 2
The figures for certain years are limited. For example, 1953-1959 are totals for the various series (i.e. Passenger and Corvette) are limited with no information on options other than the Passenger models and corvettes.
Beginning with 1960, engine and transmission quantities are known but there is no breakdown other than Passenger, Corvette, etc. totals.
Beginning with 1963, individual options per car line are available with percentages of a given option in an individual model line. There are no known records of specific option combinations such as "How many 1966 SS 396 Chevelles were optioned with the L34 engine AND M20 4-speed transmission." The number of 1966 Chevelle SS 396 models are known (both sport coupe and convertible) and how many M20 4-speed transmissions were sold, but not together.
Speaking of the M20 4-speed transmission, the RPO code of M20 included BOTH wide ratio 4-speed transmissions, Saginaw and Muncie. As far as the RPO code M20 is concerned, both the Saginaw and Muncie are lumped into a single RPO code.
