"GM" Jim Godwin
President of the New England Chevelle & El Camino Association
GM Jim is a honorary member of the Wichita Area
Chevelle Owners and has been a member for the past few years. Jim has
a beautiful gold 1970 Chevelle Malibu that he has owned for almost 20
years. Though I have never seen his Chevelle in person the pictures
show how much he loves his car and this great hobby that we dabble in.
Jim founded the New England Chevelle & El Camino Association many
years ago and is still holding the position of President. His love for
his Chevelle and his club goes way deeper than the cold metal fenders
and the iron blocks that make these hot rods fun. He is a true super
hero in the since that he understands people and loves to give back
to this hobby in many ways.
Jim and I have been friends for a long time now and not a day goes by
that I don't think of Jim and his family in New England. Jim has been
to Wichita three times now and on his last trip down he managed to participate
in the 2005 Midwest Chevelle Regional. Although his Golden Chariot did
not get to come down to the Regional (Jet fuel was cheaper than gas)
Jim was there in 100+ degree weather judging Chevelles and having a
great time with his friends from WACO.
On previous trips to Wichita Jim has been to the Sedgwick County Zoo,
Kaw Lake water skiing, WACO monthly team meetings, WACO Cruise to the
Prairie Rose Western Dinner Theater, WACO Lake trip to El Dorado Lake,
and many other places like Spangles, Old Town, Cow Town, Wichita water
treatment plant, and even dinner with my folks and family.
Jim is a one of a kind dude and I am very proud to know him and call
him my friend. Thanks for being you "GM" Jim and I can't wait to see
you again.
Your friend in Wichita
