Steve Castaneda's 1978 El Camino
Steve Castaneda 1978 El Camino
I originally purchased the car in 1993, it had a 305, 350 trans,
2.28:1 rear end with a topper on the back, looked like an old man’s
fishing car, saggy springs and all.
The car now has a 350 sb bored .040, Edelbrock performer intake,
aluminum heads, holley 750cfm, crane cam, headers, dual exhaust,
three chamber flowmasters, 3000 stall converter, 3.23:1
Positraction, it’s approx. 325 hp.
It’s color is candy apple red, with the bed having a sprayed on bed
liner (same color), interior is camel or tan, whatever was
considered factory in that year. The interior has new carpet and a
new headliner, the bench seat has been rolled and pleated, the door
panels have been redone as well as the sunvisors
In the near future I would like to install a 700 R4 trans. with a
lower geared rear end
