1962 Corvette Photo Gallery

The 1962 saw a new 327-cid engine in favor of the venerable 283-cid engine of the past. The dual four barrel carburetor option was gone for 1962. The side cove lip was formed by the fiberglass and not accented by bright trim which eliminated the two-tone option; all 1962 Corvettes were a solid color. The simulated vent was changed to a single louver replacing the triple-spear vent. The 250-hp and 300-hp engines have painted steel rocker arm covers, the 340-hp and 360-hp engines have seven-fin cast alloy rocker arm covers. All tachometers were distributor-driven; in previous years only the fuel injection equipped engines were distributor-driven. The 1962 Corvette would be the last to have a trunk until 1982 with the special "collector edition" model featuring a hatch window.

Other "lasts" for 1962 were exposed headlamps, a solid rear axle, 2x4 carburetion, and optional power convertible top.

1962 total Corvettes built - 14,531

A 327-cid, 250-hp engine, manual 3-speed transmission, vinyl interior trim, and a soft top were included in the base price of $4,038.00.
