1975 Corvette Photo Gallery

The 1975 model year would be a pilotable year for a couple of reasons. First, it would be the last year (until the 1986 model year) a convertible, or roadster, would be offered as a body style; second, only two 350-cid engines were offered, the 165-hp base 350 engine and the optional L82 205-hp 350 engine. Catalytic converters were introduced this year. Dual exhausts were routed to a single converter then split for dual exit.

The front and rear soft bumpers were structurally redesigned. The rear bumper was now a 1-piece unit and had inner shock absorbers for impact. High energy ignition (HEI) made its debut which required the tachometer to be electronically driven. The one optional engine, the 205-hp L82 engine got its own hood emblem. Kilometers per hour (KPH) speedometer surfaces appeared on the Corvette's speedometer for the first time and 1975 was the first year with a headlight-warning buzzer.

The base price of both the coupe and convertible increased significantly in 1975; the coupe from $6,001.50 to $6,797.10 and the convertible from $5,765.50 to $6,550.10.

(1) Percentages are calculated on the number of options sold vs. the number possible. For example, C08 was only available on the Auxiliary Hardtop so the 11.6% reflects the number of Auxiliary Hardtops (2,407) ordered with the C08 option (279).
(2) The M21 was standard and only available with the Z07/L82 while the M20 was standard with the base 350-cid, 165-hp engine.
(3) The M40 was no cost with the base 350-cid, 190-hp engine but $120 with the RPO L82 engine.
(4) RPO Z07 was only available with L82 (2,372) engine option - not available with M40 transmission so percentage is probably less than 0.4%.
>> RPO C08 was only available in black.
>> RPO FE7 was included with RPO Z07 but could be ordered separately with either 350-cid engine.
>> Convertible folding tops were limited to choices of black or white.
