Suspect
Information provided here is provided solely to aid a potential owner in determining the heritage of their LS5 Chevelle. An example 'suspect' car would be an LS5 Chevelle with proper paperwork but the history of the car shows it was a 'barn find' and the engine was long gone when the car was found. However, suddenly the car appears on the market with a restamped engine and is being sold as a 'matching numbers' car. The term 'matching numbers' means different things to different people but here it's used to mean the engine build date stamping and the partial VIN stamping on the block are original and have not been altered. A 'barn find' LS5 with a missing engine has a 1-in-4475 chance of finding its original block.
Another example 'suspect' is fake documentation. Car may or may not be a factory SS454 but fake documentation as 'proof' only puts the car in doubt. You be the judge.
