1970 Camaro Super Sport Package - RPO Z27

The Super Sport (SS) Package alone was ordered with 12,476 Camaros, about 10% of all 1970 Camaros and added a cost of $289.65. The option came standard with the 300hp 350cid engine but could be ordered with the optional 350hp or 375hp 402cid engine. Both the M20 wide ratio 4-speed transmission at $205.95 or the M40 TH400 automatic transmission at $385.50 could be ordered.

The SS package consisted of a blacked-out grille, rear hood molding, dual sport mirrors, and SS emblems on the grille, rear deck and both front fenders behind the wheel wells. The 14x7 wheels with F70x14 raised white letter tires, F41 special suspension and front disc brakes were standard with variable-ratio steering optional. When the 402cid engine was ordered, the rear deck panel was painted black.

The SS package could be ordered with the Rally Sport package as well under RPO Z22 and included the split front bumpers under each headlamp, round turn signal lamps, extended grille with body-colored urethane. The taillights got bright accents.
