# Carter built a select group of Quadrajet carburetors for GM as a second source in case of a Rochester strike. All Carter-built QuadraJet have "MFG by Carter" cast into the body. Both non-A.I.R. (702xxxx) and A.I.R. (703xxxx) QuadraJet were built by Carter, and these same model numbers were built by Rochester as well.

Typical Rochester Quadrajet 4-bbl carburetor. This one happens to be #7037213 for a 327/275hp, (2nd type) M.T., A.I.R.

This Quadrajet was manufactured by Carter, #7027218 for a 327/275hp, (3rd type) A.T., w/o A.I.R.

When the TH400 transmission was ordered, a kickdown switch was located just behind the throttle arm. Also note the location of the carburetor return spring; it runs from the throttle arm of the carburetor to a hole in the ignition coil bracket. This is true for all V8 engines regardless of carburetor.

* The AIM and Chevrolet P&A catalog both show part #3916143 as the Holley carburetor for the L78 engines. The Chevrolet P&A catalog also shows this part number to be Holley's List Number of R-3901A but this photo clearly shows the Chevrolet part number and Holley List Number of R-3910.
** The 3916145 has been reported to have been used on the Chevelle L78 but no documentation has yet surfaced to confirm this. This carburetor was used on the 1967 Camaro Z/28 and Camaro L78.
*** The Chevrolet P&A catalog shows the Holley List Number as 3607 and other sources show this as 3807.

If Chevrolet had only released the L64/L67 396 V8 with a 3x2 carburetor setup, this is how it might have looked.
