1971 Engine Emission Control Information Labels
Engine emission control information labels are affixed to the radiator-support panel and provide specifics on some tune-up information such as ignition timing & dwell and idle RPM for a given engine regardless of transmission. By 1971 the emission labels confusion of the 1970 model year had calmed down and all four U.S. plants standardized on their label broadcast codes.
If you have a build sheet for your Chevelle, the label is coded in
box 91 like this Kansas City assembly plant with the LS5 engine
regardless of transmission type.
Label Broadcast Code | Engine - Transmission |
AO | 307 - all |
AP | L65 - all |
AQ | L48 - all |
AT | LS3 - all |
AU | LS5 - all |
