Due to a labor dispute at the source for Chevelle, Chevy II, and Corvair interiors, specific substitute interiors (black only) from Buick, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac (BOP) were used in certain series/body styles, as noted in this March 25, 1968 dated letter from the Des Moines Zone.
This listing of seat type for both Chevelle and Chevy II models is shown here:
To help clarify for Chevelle owners, here are the model, seat type, and BOP Code found on the Chevelle's Fisher Body Number Plate (a.k.a. trim tag, firewall tag, etc.). As of this listing, not all codes have been discovered for all plants so if you have a 1968 Chevelle or Chevy II with a substitute interior that is not listed, contact me with the information, i.e., photo of trim tag, and I'll add the information. Note in several instances the same Series/Body Style may get different interiors based on the assembly plant(s).
To date, no substitute trim tags have been found from Atlanta, Framingham, or Oshawa. Whether orders normally submitted to these three plants with black interiors were diverted to Baltimore, Fremont, or Kansas City is not known. Note that in the case of the Malibu sport coupe (13637), different bench seat interiors were used at different plants when the car was ordered with RPO ZL7 Concours Sport Coupe option. The 13639 sport sedan and 13669 sedan codes shown are not known to be Concours optioned.
On some codes, plants may vary in the way they are depicted due to each plant's SOP. For example, black Buick bucket seats are shown as 766-178 (or 766-178 B) at Baltimore; Fremont will show the same seat as 766 178 (note no hyphen between 766 and 178); Kansas City will show the same seat as 766-178- (note added hyphen at the end).
Only plants that I have verification of are listed, the other plant(s) may very well have used the same trim code where applicable.
Seat Type and BOP Code are listed in Series/Body Style order.
This bulletin says that Chevy II and Chevelle interior trim colors should return to normal around April 15 and the Concours options will be withdrawn. It's known these alternate interiors continued well into June. The three Concours options are shown to be available in March - why cancel them in April? I'd question this since production reports indicate 10,612 of the three options were sold and a known Concours Malibu sport coupe from Kansas City with body date of 06B has been found.

If anyone knows of any 1968 Oldsmobile charts like the
Buick and Pontiac above, I'd appreciate appropriate images.
Maybe the above came from a dealer's book?
These are samples of the Cutlass Supreme & 442's 940-style bucket and 950-style bench, none of these have yet to turn up in a Chevelle. It's possible these were not substituted.
