Q: I thought paint code 72 on 1969
Chevelles was 'Monaco Orange.' What am I missing?
A: Different GM documentation and aftermarket paint chip pages
sometimes refer this color on Chevelles as Hugger Orange and
sometimes combined with the Monaco Orange color available on 1969
Corvettes. It is the same color, just different sales names. Most
1969 Camaro documentation call it Hugger Orange. The same color (and
even paint code 72) is called Carousel Red by Pontiac. What any
particular GM division calls a color is just a sales name. Daytona
Yellow (paint code 72) for Chevrolet's is Goldenrod Yellow for
Pontiac. Internally with Chevrolet they're simply orange or yellow.
