1967 SS 396

Paint Colors

No less than 15 solid colors and seven 2-tone color combinations were offered in 1967. There were no SS 396-specific paint colors. Any color could be ordered on any 1967 Chevelle. Plants used letters to specify the colors available on the Fisher Body Number plate (aka, trim tag) and a number for a vinyl or convertible top color when so equipped. The 1967 model year offered black and beige as vinyl top color choices and white, black, or beige convertible top colors.

1967 Paint Colors

Sales name often differed from the plant paint name and the sales name could vary between Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, and Oldsmobile A-body cars even though the plant paint name was the same. For example, Chevrolet's "Tuxedo Black" sales name was Buick's "Regal Black." Chevrolet's "Ermine White" sales name was Oldsmobile's "Provincial White." Same colors just a different sales names.

Seven two-tone color combinations were optional for $15.80.

Convertible tops were available in three colors, white (1), black (2), and medium blue (4). A vinyl top was only offered in Black (2) or Light Fawn (6).

It needs to be pointed out that there is no known breakdown of color and specific series or body style, numbers are for all 1966 Chevelles including convertibles where they would have a convertible top and sport coupes where they might have a vinyl top. Colors are listed total number of sales from most to least. Two-tone combinations are listed separately.
