The 1969 model year saw the introduction of SS-only wheels and no hub caps or wheel covers were optional on any Z25-optioned Chevelle.
Chevelle SS wheels are stamped steel and measure 14x7. Standard tire size is F70-14 for the SS 396 coupe, sport coupe, and convertible.
Blackwall with raised white lettering were standard with 4 other tire choices being optional; F70-14 special red stripe under RPO PW8, F70-14 special white stripe under RPO PW7, F70-14 special belted red stripe under RPO PY5, and F70-14 special belted white stripe under RPO PY4. The SS Equipment-optioned sedan pickup standard tire size is G70-14 with red stripe although many have been documented with the F70-14 tire size.
Optional tires for the SS Equipment-optioned sedan pickup include G70-14 white stripe under RPO PX9, G70-14/B Fiberglass belted red stripe under RPO PY7, and G70-14/B Fiberglass belted white stripe under RPO PX8.
