The Van Nuys, California assembly plant (also referred to as Los Angeles, California) reportedly assembled 107,939 Chevelles in 1970. This accounted for 16.35% of all 1970 Chevelles reportedly assembled in the U.S. and Canada. Convertibles and El Caminos were assembled at Van Nuys.
Examples of Van Nuys build sheets are hard to come by so some of the data may not be complete but as more become available for inspection, information will be updated. If you have a Van Nuys build sheet with different information, please email me a readable copy and I will update this CD.
1970 Van Nuys Trivia/Notes
>> A hand-written 4-digit number in the upper left corner.
>> The SCHED NO DATE box has two sets of numbers. The first 2-digit number
is the physical day of the month. The 4-digit number is the month and
physical day of the month.
>> After 10-08 all radio codes and U76 windshield antenna moved from column
4 to column 5.
>> After 10-11 J50 and JL2 moved from column 2 to column 3.
>> Sometime between 12-16 and 01-05 the front shock code format changed from
a 2-letter code such as BK to a 4-letter code such as BK-AN.
>> Beginning 12-21 *C24 DEPRES W/P WP was added to column 2.

Van Nuys is noted for having build sheets on top of the fuel tank.
