|
The series and engine type (base I6 vs. base V8) are the 12nd & 3rd numbers and the model (body style) are the last two numbers. The first number shown in the 'Produced' column is domestic production, the second number is export production, and the total production is the last number.
The Series/Model columns correspond to VIN series & body style and not Fisher Body plate Style numbers.

Notes/Caveats:
(1) The total production according to the
reported last VIN of each assembly plant
totals 540,176 and does not match figures above.
(2) 19,293 Malibu/El Camino (Custom) series was equipped with RPO Z15
SS option and, of these, 9,502 were equipped with SS454 equipment.
(3) 6,727 standard Chevelles were ordered with RPO YF3 Heavy Chevy option.
(4) 1,919 Monte Carlos were ordered with RPO Z20 SS454 option.
(5) n/a indicates the series/model was not available with that engine
type. A big decrease in 6-cyl engine availability is apparent for this
year.
Vintage Vehicle Services document report shows 9,853 Malibu sport
coupes "Produced for U.S. Sale in Canada." and 588 were produced
with Z15 and 124 produced with LS3 & Z15 combination.
Vintage Vehicle Services document shows 6,293 Malibu sport coupes "Produced
for sale in Canada" and shows 319 were produced with Z15 and the
same 124 produced with LS3 & Z15 combination.
** Vintage Vehicle Services document shows 25,938 Malibu sport coupes, "Produced
for export to the U.S.A." and is a big difference from the 9,853
reported from Tailfins & Bowties.
*** Vintage Vehicle Services document shows 277 Malibu convertibles "Imported
