For the 1974 model year the Laguna became the Laguna Type S-3. The Laguna Type S-3 was only available as a Colonnade hardtop and had its own special interior trim. Until early in 1974 the only interior/exterior color combination available was dark red cloth swing out bucket seats along with antique white exterior with dark red vinyl top and red striping. A driver side remote sport mirror and passenger side manual sport mirror were standard on the Type S-3. The Type S-3 replaced the SS option last offered in 1973 with the Malibu Colonnade hardtop (although the SS option continued with the Malibu El Camino). Only 15,792 Type S-3 Lagunas were built in 1974. The Type S-3 can be identified by its unique series 1AE37.
