1964 Malibu SS
Body Styles
The 1964 Malibu SS was available in two body styles, 2-door sport coupe and 2-door convertible. Any of the available engines were possible in either body style. The Malibu SS was NOT an option unless you define 'option' as a choice. A buyer either purchased a Chevelle 300 series, a Malibu series, or a Malibu SS series base car.
Chevrolet described both body styles as 5-passenger capacity; three in the rear and two in the front due to the standard front bucket seats that was part of the Malibu SS series.
Both body styles were identical whether an optional 6-cylinder or V8 engine was ordered. The particular engine made no difference in the body styles and only certain emblems would distinguish a 6-cylinder Malibu SS from a V8 Malibu SS. See the trim page for those differences.

These included station wagons, sedan pickups, and in some cases, even Malibu SSs. To our knowledge, those body production figures for the Euclid, OH. plant have never been published. Just how many Malibu SSs that were built at individual plants is also an unknown figure.
