For 1959, the body style changed once again with flat, wing shaped tailfins. New taillamps in a teardrop design replaced the rounded lamps of the 1958 model year. The Impala sport coupe retained the faux vent on the roofline. Not an Impala exclusive, the front featured faux vents above the grille shaped much like the tail lamps and a 'toothed' grille reminicent of the 1953 Chevrolet.

The 1959 grew longer and wider than anything else in the low-priced range of cars. The Bel Air had been the top of the line series since 1953 but was not relegated to the middle range series for 1959. The Delray of 1958 was gone and the Biscayne became the entry level series followed by the Bel Air and the Impala as top of the line and its own series.

Station wagon names changed as well with the Brookwood becoming the entry level series followed by the Parkwood and Nomad.

The 348cid engine was available in a number of horsepower ratings depending on the carburetion and transmission type; 250hp, 280hp, 305hp, 315hp, and 335hp.

1959 would be the last year for fuel injection in the full-size car lineup for Chevrolet with 250hp and 290hp raings. A four-speed manual transmission was available for the first time in the Chevrolet full-size car lineup but only for the fuel injected 283 and all 348 engines.
