The 1966 Chevelle lineup included something for everyone from the basic sedan, wagon, and light sedan pickup for the working man and family car to sportier hardtops and convertibles for the enthusiast and those with a flair for adventure. Engine options ranged from the economical 120 horsepower 194 cubic inch 6-cylinder to a (limited availability) mighty 375 horsepower, 396 cubic inch V8.

Chevelle 300: A rear quarter panel nameplate, bright ventipane frames, and windshield & rear window reveal moldings identify the Chevelle 300 series. Ornamentation at the rear of the Chevelle 300 includes the new wrap-around tail lamps and a "CHEVELLE" nameplate at the center of the rear cove. Back-up lamps for all Chevelle models are part of the rear light assembly. Two cloth materials and an all vinyl black interior are available. Door trim panels are attractively embossed, and carry front door armrests with colored plastic bases. Floor covering is black rubber. |

Chevelle 300 Deluxe: A rear quarter panel nameplate and a bright body sill molding identify the Chevelle 300 Deluxe series. Rear styling for sedan models include an emblem at the center of the rear cove panel and bright full width molding continuing under the tail lamp bezels. A slender emblem is positioned at the center of the station wagon tailgate. Front appearance is the as the Malibu Series. Interior features include a silver plated instrument panel upper trim molding and front door jamb switches that operate the dome lamp. Interiors are available in three color choices for the sedan cloth interior and the station wagon all vinyl interior. All vinyl embossed side walls and armrest, front and rear, are standard equipment. Passenger compartment and station wagon load floor covering is vinyl coated rubber, color keyed to the interior trim. |

Malibu: Bright body side and rear quarter moldings, bright drip gutter moldings, and rear quarter series nameplate identify the Malibu Series. A Chevelle script graced the center of the rear cove. Standard convenience items for the Malibu models include a glove box lamp, lighted heater controls and a clock. The steering wheels are newly styled and feature a new spoke design. The deluxe steering wheel for Malibu and SS 396 have horn blowing switches mounted in the horizontal spokes. |

Side trim on the base El Camino (Deluxe) is same design as 133-134xx 300 Deluxe series 2- and 4-door sedan while side trim on the 135-13680 series is same design as 135-136xx Malibu series. |

SS 396: The first full production year for the SS 396 series (13817-867). Bright wheel opening moldings, ribbed sill molding, blacked-out grille and satin black painted rear cove (early & late production models) help identify the SS 396. The grille and rear cove also receive the SS 396 emblems as well as new "Super Sport" emblems on the rear quarter panels and the Turbo-Jet 396 emblems on the front fenders. |
