Of the 96,751 1973 Camaros built 93,137 were equipped with a V8 engine and 3,614 with the L6 engine.
The 350cid V8 lead the V8 engine sales with 63,482 engines (L48 - 13,220 and L65 - 50,262) then 18,081 307cid engines followed by the 11,574 with the Z28 Special Engine Option.
Surprisingly 5,959 left the factory with the standard manual 3-speed transmission, 11,388 were optioned with a manual 4-speed transmission (M20 - 6,894 and M21 - 4,494), 5,467 with the TH400 automatic, and 73,937 with the TH350 automatic.
There is no known breakdown of how many of any engine came with any particular transmission. However, knowing the number of M21 close-ratio 4-speeds for the Z28 (4,494) and the number of M40 Turbo-Hydramatics (5,467), that leaves the M20 with 1,613.
