Only coupes with body-color removeable top were available, no convertibles for 1985.
The 1985 Corvette now featured a Bosch tuned-port fuel injection and the new L98 engine delivered 230hp. Suspension rates were lowered in 1985, a result of criticism of a harsh ride. The front suspension was 26% softer and the rear 25%. Springs for RO Z51 were 16% softer for the front and 25% softer for the rear. To compensate, a larger front stabilizer bars were included with the Z51 option.
Wheel balance weights changed from the rim clip-on style to an inner-surface adhesive type.
The manual transmission was upgraded with a heavy-duty 8.5-inch ring gear. Gearing for the manual transmission is 3.07:1 and 2.73:1 for automatic transmission equipped Corvettes, but the 3.07:1 could be ordered with the automatic with RPO G92.
A full length oil pan gasket reinforcement was added to improve gasket compression seal.
The instrumentation was changed with improved, cleaner graphics. Less color for the speedometer and tachometer and larger digits for the center-cluster displays.
All 1985 Corvettes are coupes and have a lift-off roof panel.
