1990 ZR-1
The 1990 ZR-1 is powered by a 32-valve, 5.7-liter, port-fuel-injected engine with an aluminum black and aluminum heads for 375hp at 6200 RPM and a torque peak of 370 lb-ft. at 4200 RPM. Road tests found the ZR-1 can go from 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds and 0 to 100 in 10.4 seconds
Zahnradfabrik Friedrichshafen (ZF) AG designed the six-speed transmission especially for the Corvette. It is fully synchronized and has an internal clutch which is an internal-rail shift mechanism and a hydraulically actuated 280-mm diameter pull-type.
Heat was a big concern that would be addressed with hood and side vents. Hydraulic oil coolers and massive intake scoops on the front facia were also used to help combat engine heat.
