Appendix D - Propeller Shaft Stripe Colors

The propeller shaft, a.k.a. drive shaft, stripe colors data presented in the following tables are taken directly from the specific year and plant build sheet broadcast codes. Not all engine/transmission combinations are known and those entries will be shown with a blank cell. If you have any data to share, especially any of those with a blank cell, please contact me so I can update the information.

Several plants changed the broadcast codes are certain engine/transmission combination at some point during the year and those changes will be noted with information based on the latest known information at the time of this publication. An example would be a "PB" code through at least 04-01 and changing to a "GO" code at least by 04-16. The two dates are the DATE dates shown the box #10 of the build sheet. This indicates there is no current data between the 04-01 date and the 04-16 date. If you find any irregularities or colors dates later than, say 04-01 but before 04-16, with a color code change, please contact me and I will update the data presented here.

One plant may use a single letter for each color while another plant might use two. For example, one plant may use 'GO' for green and orange where anther will use "GR-OR" for green and orange. See Chapter 5 for details on the propeller shaft.

The Malibu series sport coupe and convertible will have the same data while the sedan pickup El Camino and station wagon will share the same codes in many cases.
