© ChevelleWorld All 1969 Chevelle station wagons and sedan pickups have vented gas caps, all others have non-vented gas caps.

© ChevelleWorld While the 131/13235 Nomad station wagon remained, the 133/13435 station wagon now carried the nameplate of 'Greenbrier.' The 6-cylinder Malibu series Concours station wagon was dropped and only the 8-cylinder model remained.

© ChevelleWorld The 138xx series did continue but only for the Concours Estate station wagon.

© ChevelleWorld The SS 396 as a series was dropped from the lineup, the SS 396 was now an option under RPO Z25. The SS 396 option was available with the Malibu sport coupe, convertible, and sedan pickup as well as the 300 Deluxe coupe and sport coupe. The Z25 option included such niceties as the 396/325hp engine, power front disc brakes, and special SS wheels. The special suspension, RPO F41, was an option on any SS 396 at a cost of $29.50 but only 722 SS 396 Chevelles were so equipped. For more details on the SS 396 option and its equipment see my 1969 SS 396 page.

© ChevelleWorld Two new colors were available as an option with any SS 396 model, Hugger Orange and Daytona Yellow. These two special colors were a $42.15 option. Of the 86,307 Z25 options sold 8,035 (5,194 Hugger Orange and 2,841 Daytona Yellow) were optioned in these two colors. It should be noted that COPO Chevelles were also available in these two colors. For more on the 1969 COPO Chevelles see my 1969 COPO page.

© ChevelleWorld Several body modifications were made with the SS 396 option. The Malibu series Chevelles got 300 Deluxe front fenders with just the side marker lamp and an SS 396 badge. The Malibu side trim molding was eliminated.

© ChevelleWorld The 300 Deluxe series got Malibu sport coupe/convertible rear tail lamps and housing.

© ChevelleWorld Early 1969 SS 396 Chevelles built in Canada have 1968 calendar year built VINs beginning with 100001; it wasn't until January of 1969 the VIN sequencing began with 300001. For more on Canada-built SS 396 Chevelles see my 1969 SS 396 page.

© ChevelleWorld The SS 396 got its own special wheel. This 'magnum 500' style wheel was not an available option on any other 1969 series and optional wheel covers were not an option with the SS 396 The hub cap for 1969 is the same used in 1968.

© ChevelleWorld Both Atlanta and Kansas City plants stamped the partial VIN on the rough-cat area by the oil filter. Often the stamp is not very deep and may be hard to read like this example from the Leed's plant in Kansas City.
