© ChevelleWorld All 1972 Chevelles have vented gas caps.

© ChevelleWorld The Monte Carlo SS option was discontinued for the 1972 model year. One could now only order the LS5 in a 1H57 Monte Carlo with Monte Carlo Custom option, RPO Z03.

© ChevelleWorld Like the 1971 model year, both 350 engines and the 402 could be ordered with or without the SS Equipment option. Only the 454 engine required the SS Equipment option.

© ChevelleWorld While GM changed the VIN format from something like 13637 to 1D37 for a Malibu sport coupe, Fisher Body retained the 13637 style number for the Fisher Body Number Plate. See the 1972 VIN page for the new series letter designations.

© ChevelleWorld Tuxedo Black was not an available color in 1972. It coulee be ordered via the Fleet & Special Order procedure as 'special paint.'

© ChevelleWorld Either RPO D88 stripe color (RPO YF8 for black and RPO ZR8 for white) could be ordered on almost any body color. White stripes could not be ordered with Antique White and black stripes could not be ordered with Midnight Bronze. A buyer could get black stripes with Midnight Bronze under the Fleet & Special Order process but you can see why it wasn't offered as a normal choice by Chevrolet.

© ChevelleWorld The basic steel wheel with hub cap were standard and wheels are painted lower body color except when full wheel covers are ordered, they the wheels are painted black.
