Story:
My Father had this Chevelle my whole life and as a kid I could not wait
for him to let me drive it. He did let me drive a few times but the
ultimate gift was later in life when he turned the keys over to me.
Now a little older and appreciating history behind things, the coolest
story is how he got this Chevelle. My Father was getting ready to leave
Vietnam in December of 1969 and through the American Mutual Services
(AMS) Exchange he financed his dream car. A 1970 Chevelle SS 396. When
he returned home he had the car all but waiting for him with a friends
help in picking up the car for him. I still have the original Exchange
receipt he gave me with a brand new purchase price of $3,675.00. He
did not get the Chevelle until sometime April 1970 I believe but thought
this was a cool enough story to share.
My son is 6 years old and he looks at this car as I did when I was his
age. One day it will be his so the tradition will continue.
