Introduction - 1965

The 1965 Chevelle was offered in 14 body styles with a choice of two 6-cylinder engines or six 8-cylinder engines. A buyer had a total of 15 solid paint colors and nine two-tone paint schemes to choose from. Color choices were limited somewhat by the body style; convertibles with a soft top were not considered a two-tone, sedan pickups and station wagons were limited to solid paint colors only. Three colors, Evening Orchid, Glacier Gray, and Crocus Yellow were reserved for the Malibu SS series and not available with any other series.

The 1965 model year saw the start of the Malibu SS/SS 396/SS optioned Chevelles with a blacked-out grille theme. See the 1965 Malibu SS page for more details.
