Production Numbers - 1965

In 1965, the series are the 2nd and 3rd numbers of the Fisher Body style number and the model (body style) are the last two numbers. Fremont was the only U.S. assembly plant to match the Fisher Body style number series with either the L6 or V8 engine with an L6 having an odd 3rd digit and the V8 with an even 3rd digit. All other U.S. plants Fisher Body Number plants used an even 3rd digit regardless of engine type. This total production number agrees with Chevrolet's Accumulative Production Report of August 31, 1965.
Caveats:
(1) The total production according to the reported last VIN of each assembly plant totals 375,618 leaving 3,000 units unaccounted for in U.S production:
378,618 - 375,618 (VINS) = 3,000
(2) Total production for Canada is reported at 19,132 units; 12,130 L6 and 7,002 V8 Chevelles but are not broken down by specific series/model.
(3) Vintage Vehicle Services documentation indicates 40 13867 Malibu SS convertibles with left hand drive were exported from Oshawa. This is NOT represented in the Export numbers above.
(4) Vintage Vehicle Services documentation indicates 205 L6 and 109 V8 300 convertibles were built for sale in Canada.
