The L78 engine required RPO K24, Closed Positive Engine Ventilation
Generator (alternator) is not mounted in accordance with the
Assembly
Instruction Manual. Top brace should be behind generator and adjustment bolt
should be inserted from the back side. See
Generator page for correct mounting.
Aside from some internal modifications the L78 also included an aluminum intake manifold and larger, rectangular port cylinder heads. The L78 option was absent from the 1967 Chevelle option availability until its re-release sometime around April or May. The Assembly Instruction Manual shows the date of the drawings as April 26, 1967.
