Each year of Chevelles from 1964 through 1972 had unique oddities associated with them.

1964 | 1965 | 1966 | 1967 | 1968 | 1969 | 1970 | 1971 | 1972

→ 1967

* The RPO L79 engine returned to the option list but with a lower horsepower rating of 325hp (4,048 reported).

* The RPO L78 engine was dropped from the option list initially but returned around April/May with no fanfare or promotion by Chevrolet. Only 612 were sold.

* The RPO L34 engine horsepower rating was reduced from 360hp in 1966 to 350hp for 1967.

* Bucket seats were now single color, no two-tone as their had been in 1966.

* The heavy duty RPO M22 transmission was dropped from the option list for 1967.

* Gauges (oil pressure, ammeter, water temperature, and tachometer) were still optional. The "Instrument Panel Gauges" option under RPO U14 and available on any V8 Malibu sport coupe, convertible, or sedan pickup as well as the SS 396 sport coupe and SS 396 convertible (23,862 reported).

* The tachometer could be ordered WITHOUT the other gauges under RPO U16 with ANY V8 in any series (3,653 reported). No L6 engined Chevelle could order either RO U14 or RPO  U16.

* Several safety features appeared such as a standard hazard warning flasher system and collapsible steering column.

* A new 'rally wheel' was part of the disc brake option and were not available separately as a factory option.

* Hub caps were standard on all Chevelles. Full wheel covers were optional under RPO PO1. When full wheel covers were ordered the centers differed for the SS 396 and the Concours station wagon, versus all other series.

* A new Concours station wagon series was introduced with VIN starting with either 13735 (L6) or 13835 (V8). Not all '138' 1967 Chevelles are SS 396 series.

* All SS 396 rear tail panels are blacked-out. This blackout theme is carried over into the trunk area between the weather strip and the upper rear tail trim piece. This additional blackout was also applied to all Malibu sport coupes and convertibles due to the black trim on the tail lamp housing. Neither the 300 nor the 300 Deluxe series have his since their tail lamps are smaller.

* 283 and 327 V8 equipped Chevelles have "crossed flags" emblem on the front fenders with the engine size noted above the emblem for the 327 engine only. The base L6 engine had no emblems while the optional L6 had an engine size designation emblem. The SS 396 series has its own crossed flags emblem with "396 TURBO-JET" verbiage.

* There were no special paint colors reserved for the SS 396 series.

* The 1967 SS 396 series is the only year stripes were standard equipment with RPO D96 Wide Paint Stripe optional.
