1967 Chevelle

Interior Fabrics and Colors

Some colors and fabrics were carried over from the 1966 model year and some colors were added and dropped.

Front seat backs on 2-door models received a lock mechanism to keep the seat back from accidentally folding forward. This applied to bucket seats as well as the bench seat.

The Malibu Sport Sedan sported an optional deluxe interior. The seats are trimmed in pattern cloth with a textured vinyl center panel carrying an embossed emblem on the backrest. Two rows of vinyl covered buttons on the backrest and vertical stitching on seat and backrest complete the special seat trim. The central area of the door panels are trimmed in pattern cloth, matching vertical stitching design of the seats, and a vertical band of textured vinyl highlighted by a die-cast emblem. The lower portion of the door panel is carpeted to match the floor carpeting.

Aside from the various seat color and material choices the floor covering varied with the series. The Chevelle 300 flooring was black rubber, the Chevelle 300 Deluxe was vinyl coated rubber and color keyed to the interior. The Malibu and SS 396 received a deep-twist carpet in the passenger compartments with station wagons getting a vinyl coated rubber and color keyed to the interior and a luggage compartment mat was also standard.

Comparison between 1966 and 1967 seats. Note not only different pattern but 1967 incorporated release latches to fold the front seat forward; the 1966 model did not include this feature.

Interior Paint

The paint 'break' between exterior and interior color is the weather-strip on the doors. The top of the dash and windshield pillar should be "0" gloss paint. The top of the doors and quarter should be 60% gloss paint along with the rest of the interior.
