As you can see in the matrices below, several versions of the 2-speed Powerglide, the 3-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, and several versions of the manual 3-speed transmissions were used based on the particular engine and its horsepower rating. The matrix represents the gear ratio multiplication factor based on the gear set in the transmission and the rear end axle ratio. The manual 4-speed transmission was available in four versions, a wide ratio cast iron case Saginaw M20, an aluminum case Muncie M20, a close ratio M21 and heavy duty M22.

Note: The 255hp 350cid RPO LM1 engine is not shown in GM's specifications but it would seem logical to assume the manual transmission data would be the same as the 300hp RPO L48 engine. The LM1 engine's main difference from the L48 were the cylinder heads.
